This client-facing role includes analyzing, planning and implementing the reorganizations of companies and other assets, including the purchase and sale of businesses. CPA, CA, CGA, CMA designation
Completion of CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course preferred
3 years’ minimum public practice experience in Canadian income tax
Strong organizational, oral and written communication skills

Grant Thornton is a mid-size international public accounting firm. Their Mississauga office is looking for a Tax Manager to be a client-facing, employee mentoring tax planning leader.
A day in the life of a Manager of Domestic Tax includes:
Tax consulting/advising clients on all their tax issues. Preparing and reviewing tax files for Partners. Analyzing, planning and implementing the reorganizations of companies and other assets, including the purchase and sale of businesses. Overseeing multiple client engagements across various industries. Providing significant input into broader innovations for the service line to anticipate clients’ requirements. Assisting business development management for target industries and sectors and supporting client business requirements in new and innovative ways.
Quick Summary: Tax Managers are the ones that plan and discuss all tax matters with external clients. They pass the file on to the senior and junior staff execute the work and the Tax Manager reviews and sends to the Partners for final sign off. Tax Managers also look at the hours spent on execution and come up with the bill rate to the client.
Key Search: CPA, CA, CGA, CMA, In-Depth, Personal, Corporate, Trust, Estate Tax (T1, T2 and T3), Tax Manager coming from a small or mid-size CA firm, 3 year minimum public practice experience in Canadian income tax.
Must haves: great interpersonal and people management skills, exceptional communication skills and is kind, understanding, honest, wants to be on the social committee…(well, those are preferred!) 🙂
Top Salary: $110-$120 (flexible and could go higher for the right person but that’s between us)

Growth/Pluses: There is a quicker possibility of becoming a Partner, compared to the Big 4. The exposure you get to deal with clients directly is much higher than other firms, especially the Big 4.
Note: They will hire a star Tax Manager at any of their locations. If location is an issue, there’s another role in St Catherine’s open – they are willing to customize on location.
