One of the questions I like to ask applicants I am interviewing for my firm is ‘have you ever made a mistake?’ Many struggle to come up with an answer. They hem and they haw. That can be a deal breaker for me. I need to know that you know that you are not perfect. I also need to know that when things happen – and things always do – you are going to be able to handle it professionally. In general we are seeing our clients businesses doing well and in many cases expanding their operations. With growth often comes the need to accommodate more people. With that comes the prospect of having to lease more space. We would strongly recommend that before leasing more space you check to see if a furniture solution to intensify your existing space may work. If you’re like me, you use social media to pick a great restaurant. My social media tool of choice is TripAdvisor. I find the crowd rarely steers you in the wrong direction. If a restaurant has a significant number of reviews, and is in the top 10% of restaurants in the area, it’s a winner.
In addition to the ranking data, the customer reviews are a wealth of valuable, reliable feedback. The stories written by regular people out for an evening tell you right away whether the place is for you.

Stick it to your job search
The summer 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil are on until August 21. Naturally, they’re dramatic, exciting and completely engrossing. Many of us tune in to cheer on Team Canada (or whichever country you’re rooting for), and to witness incredible feats of endurance, strength and sportsmanship. The Olympics, of course, are all about excellence.
Yet, amidst the athletes going for gold, there are plenty of world-class participants who mess up or wipe out and completely miss their chance at medalling. Canadian swimmer Dominique Bouchard, for instance, didn’t qualify for London 2012 by less than half a second. Instead of giving up her Olympic dreams, she swam on and is now competing in Rio.

Independent contractors, part-time employees, and self-employed entrepreneurs in temporary, contract or part-time jobs currently make up more than half of GTA workers; this is the new form of employment but it’s definitely not for everyone.

The five parts or Standards that make up AODA require all levels of government, nonprofits, and private sector businesses across Ontario who have one or more staff to be compliant. The first three deadlines have passed and the next one is on January 1st, 2016.

These top three notorious rebrands highlight the various reasons why companies choose to transform their identities. Some organizations, such as American-Italian eatery Olive Garden, needed to bring their brands into the 21st century. Others, like retail giant Old Navy, couldn’t compete with new, more innovative companies who were disrupting the marketplace.
When Gap Inc. was looking to revive its lagging brand Old Navy, it hired Stefan Larsson—the man behind H&M’s American expansion—according to a report in the New York Times.
